This weekend is the International Borzoi Council conference, and it happens to be taking place very close to me! At the dog show where I saw a borzoi for the first time, no less!

There will be 86 borzoi present, and several lectures over the weekend on the breed, which I’m so excited to attend. One of which is a bit on how conformation plays into speed, given by none other than the owner of Bandit’s [late] mother!

Bandit won’t be joining the conference. There’s unfortunately no room in the carpool, and he would likely be out of control around so many other dogs. :) I thought about entering us in the show, but a breed specialty is like the major leagues. Didn’t want to embarrass myself in front of the pros lol!
Perhaps next year, after I’ve had many more conformation classes under my belt. Maybe by then, we’ll be showing too!

Oh and yes, I’m bringing my camera! There will be tons and tons of photos and video!

originofhappy asked

If you don't mind me asking, what breeder in Michigan did Bandit come from? I have been searching for a breeder in my home state!

I don’t mind! :)
He’s from Starswift, and his breeder’s name is Jamie. She has a facebook page here, and the starswift website is here

Bandit got a bath today! Poor guy was a little cramped. Now that he’s shed his outer coat, it’s a lot easier to see his muscle definition.

Inktober day 3!
I drew my borzoi (Bandizoi) wearing dragon armor like that famous cat :) I’ll probably finish shading later on when I’m not swamped with homework!

101 followers! Thanks!

What a happy reward to come home to. Bandit just tested out of obedience 1, and will be going straight to obedience 2. We had some extra time after the test, so he also got a private agility training session! Everyone adored him and the trainers sounded incredibly excited to work with him next week.

Classes!

Today I went to an orientation at my local dog training facility and completely love it! The owner is a sweet heart and seems to really like borzois— Bandit will be the first Zoi at that location. Not for long though! I spread the word as soon as I got home and now we’ve got a whole gang of local borzois who will be taking classes there.

On Friday, Bandit is going in to be evaluated by a trainer. We may be able to skip obedience 1 if all goes well. When they were telling me the things they teach in obedience 1, I was like “hmm bandit pretty much knows all of those things,” but who knows. Maybe the trainer can help us tighten up these skills.

Tonight we’re going to a conformation class. Bandit has already been to one back in Michigan but it’ll be my first time. Some of of his other borzoi friends will be there too :)
